VHS Waves is a virtual instrument developed by SampleScience. This plugin is not just an effect simulator, but a synthesizer that uses real sounds recorded directly onto VHS tapes to achieve that degraded, unstable, and nostalgic character.
The Sound of Analog Nostalgia
To create this plugin, 30 synth sounds were designed using period-correct hardware and recorded onto old VHS tapes. The result is a collection of authentic timbres with the inherent imperfections of magnetic media, ideal for genres such as Synthwave, Vaporwave, and Chillwave.
