MAXBAX Free EQ Mid/Side

Maxbax The Free Plugin That Revolutionizes Your Music Productions
After a few weeks of inactivity, Analog Obsession returns with a new and improved version of one of its most popular plugins: MAXBAX (formerly known as MasBax).
This re-release brings significant updates, including an optimized DSP and circuit design, compatibility with modern operating systems such as Catalina and Big Sur (Intel/M1), and a new black graphical interface design. Although many will miss the iconic red of the previous version, this update demonstrates that MAXBAX is ready to adapt to the current needs of music producers.
If you’re looking for a transparent, versatile, and free equalizer, MAXBAX is a must-have for your plugin collection. Developed by Analog Obsession, this plugin combines classic technology with modern features, delivering clean, professional performance that suits any musical project.
What is MAXBAX?
MAXBAX is an equalizer that incorporates the legendary Baxandall-type tone control filter (completely passive) for the Low and High bands. Additionally, Analog Obsession has added an additional Peaking/Bell filter band for the Mid frequencies, providing greater flexibility in audio processing.
This plugin is not only transparent but also allows you to work in different processing modes: Stereo/Mono, Dual Left/Right, and Dual Mid/Side, making it an ideal tool for both traditional and advanced mixing techniques.
Features
- Precise and Transparent Filters
- Low: Controls frequencies between 20 Hz and 120 Hz, ideal for adjusting the weight and depth of your mixes.
- Mid: Works on frequencies between 200 Hz and 7000 Hz, perfect for providing clarity and definition to vocals and instruments.
- High: Adjusts frequencies between 9 kHz and 40 kHz, adding brightness and air to your tracks without clipping.
Each band offers two adjustment knobs: frequency selection and level adjustment, allowing a boost or cut range of +/- 6 dB in precise 0.5 dB increments.
Total Transparency
Unlike other EQ plugins, MAXBAX does not include gain stage simulations or harmonic coloration. This means you get a completely clean and transparent sound, ideal for projects where neutrality is key.
Flexible Processing Modes
Stereo/Mono: Perfect for basic mixing work.
Dual Left/Right: Allows you to process each channel independently, ideal for correcting imbalances.
Dual Mid/Side: Offers precise control over the center and sides of the mix, improving the stereo image.
Multiplatform Compatibility
- Windows: Available in VST and VST3 formats (64-bit only).
- Mac: Compatible with VST, VST3, and AU (64-bit only).
- Additionally, it is compatible with modern operating systems such as macOS Catalina and Big Sur, on both Intel and M1 processors.
