1. BRIGHTNESS (Main Knob) This is the core of the plugin. Turning this knob increases the amount of harmonic saturation and high-frequency boost applied to your signal.
- How it works: Under the hood, AirShape uses a mathematically precise high-pass filter tuned at 7000 Hz to isolate the absolute highest frequencies (the “Air”). It then runs this signal through a custom Tanh waveshaper algorithm that generates lush, warm upper harmonics.
- Why it sounds great: By focusing only on frequencies above 7kHz, AirShape adds crystal-clear brightness without touching the critical mid-range or muddying up the low-end (like the punch of a kick drum).
2. SIDE EXPANDER (Bottom Knob) A powerful psychoacoustic stereo widening tool designed specifically for your high frequencies.
- How it works: When you turn this knob up, AirShape introduces a 20ms microscopic Haas delay exclusively to the generated high frequencies on the right channel.
- Mono to Stereo Magic: This technique tricks the human ear into perceiving a massive, immersive stereo field. The best part? It works magically even if your original sound is 100% mono!
- Mono Compatibility: Because the Side Expander only affects the extreme high frequencies (the “Air” saturation), the body and low-end of your track remain perfectly centered and mono-compatible.
Tips for Best Results:
- Vocals: Apply a gentle amount of Brightness (around 3 to 5) and push the Side Expander to 7 or 8. This will make the lead vocal sit perfectly in the center of the mix while the airy breathiness wraps beautifully around the listener’s ears.
- Master Bus: A very subtle touch of Brightness (1 or 2) can lift a dull mix and give it that expensive, radio-ready polish.
