Coffee The Pun

Free Pultec-Style, Germanium-Based EQ and Preamp

Coffee The Pun is a free plugin featuring a 2-band equalizer designed to infuse your mixes with the distinctive sonic character of class A germanium transistors. If you’re looking to enrich your productions with rich harmonics, that “velvety air,” and a touch of saturation, then this plugin is for you. The Pun particularly shines in a variety of applications, from vocals to bass, acoustic guitars, pianos, and drums, especially in the snare and/or the entire drum bus.

This plugin offers two bands of equalization, one passive for low frequencies and one active for high frequencies. The passive band covers a frequency range from 20 Hz to 2 kHz, with a fixed Q of 0.7, while the active band ranges from 2 kHz to 20 kHz, with a variable Q ranging from 0.1 to 10.

The equalization controls are easy to use and highly intuitive. Each band features a gain control that allows you to adjust the level of the corresponding frequencies, while the frequency control lets you select the specific range you want to equalize.

Additionally, a phase inversion button is included, useful for resolving any phase issues that may arise. A bypass button is also integrated, allowing you to hear the sound without the influence of the plugin, making it easy to compare the processed signal with the original.
